a-HA! from now on, we eat *in* the restaurant. or, if you're me, you try not to distract the driver by spilling white cheddar popcorn all over the backseat. did I mention I was sorry about that?

I haven't read the full study, but I can tell you it is probably highly flawed... driving simulators don't really tell you much about real-life driving (and this comes from someone who used to do driving-simulator research).

They also don't take into account practice effects... and as someone who, some weeks, eats up to 1/3 of his meals in the car, I am here to tell you that practice makes perfect. I stand my my forkage, which I can do without ever taking my eyes off the road OR my left hand off the wheel.

Now, if you REALLY want to see a master in action, someday I'll show you my simultaneous driving, talking on the phone, and eating a Big Mac (whilst also removing the pickles, which displease me) trick.
