weird al should be very offended

what? an entire article about the intricacies of being "white" and "nerdy" without even a shout-out to weird al? that's just wrong.

done!

done done done. I won't share my impressions so as not to spoil anything for the unread, but let us know when you've finished and we'll discuss. dani, no rush -- I really think it'll make the most sense if you reread book 6 first.

...now what? entertain me!

*tweak*

think you can't visit all 171 starbucks in Manhattan in one day?

think again:

just finished book 6...

...and, after a bathroom/food break, about to start book 7. haven't checked news or facebook in days in an attempt to avoid spoilers (the other day I had my mom scan cnn.com for me, just in case). should have it read by tomorrow afternoon, at which time I will respond to long-neglected emails, post pictures of the new apartment and be available for discussion.

in the meantime, start researching other awesomely awesome book series so I'll have something to cheer me up when I finish this one, okay?

edited to add: matt, whatever happened with the pirated HP7? I heard there were some pretty convincing phonies floating around the internet -- was the one you found real?

one two three four-ever

OMG OMG OMG

I may admit to watching "Army Wives" on Lifetime. [There is not much else on TV in the summertime.] And I may have left the tv on afterward for some white noise while I finished my clerkship application spreadsheet, even if that white noise was the truly unbearable new show "Side Order of Life."

And following that show was ANOTHER new show, "State of Mind." And who do I see within a minute of the opening credits? LARRY FUCKING CEDAR. And he is playing a very... ah... Neil Patrick Harris-in-Harold-and-Kumar-esque character. I have no idea if he's a regular character or a one-off (I'm kind of guessing the latter), but still, it was kind of insane.

The show looks terrible, though it does appear to take place in New Haven. For what that's worth. Good to see our boy Cassius still getting acting gigs, though.

Anyway, I have yet to start HP (I KNOW--I spent much of the weekend w/ the HP-averse Boy), but I'm hoping to make it through one more day w/o being spoiled. Wish me luck.

Done!

And I have mixed feelings about the way everything panned out... you all need to finish now, so we can discuss.

MJ, who figures the fine folks at the Hamden Panera, where he was reading the last several hundred pages, are probably glad to finally be rid of him

Page 650 update

OK, things REALLY start to heat up around page 600. I am still a ways from the end, but I can already tell you that the last couple hundred pages are, IMHO, what make reading the rest of the series worthwhile.

Back to reading as fast as I can...

HPVII update

Around page 550... things finally starting to pick up. Body count rising... I shall say no more.

About halfway through Deathly Hallows...

... and to be honest, nothing terribly earth-shattering has happened yet. IMHO.

I'll keep the spoilers to myself, but it looks like JK's habit of not really getting the story going until the last part of the book continues to hold. I have no idea how she's going to finish everything off in just 400 more pages...

Harry Potter VII update

I just obtained a copy of one of the pirate editions floating around the Intarwebs... who wants it?

we interrupt this week of packing...

...to announce a new blog:

http://wheel-of-fish.blogspot.com/

it remains to be seen how regularly and/or thoroughly I will keep up this blog, but right now I have very high hopes. I also have very high hopes that one day the mountain of boxes in my bedroom will disappear, so these hopes may or may not be grounded in reality.

in case you were worried, the creation of a me-only blog will not cause me to shirk my group-blogging responsibilities. rest assured that any craziness I find on the internets will be announced here first.

I'm sleepy, so that's it for now. see some of you tomorrow --

ericat13, ohsotempted to stay up and watch conan's interview of hermione/emma watson, but probably heading to bed instead

This is a picture of a baby duct-taped to a wall...

That is all for now.

there are a zillion things I should be doing right now...

but instead I found this on youtube, and it's made me SO HAPPY:

mmm...alan rickman...

yes, he was probably a fair bit hotter a decade or two ago, but even as a potentially evil, stringy-haired potions professor he's awfully attractive.

plus this is just funny:
